Here’s another one from Tiesta Tea! This time it’s a zesty green tea in their slenderizer line of teas. Lean Green Machine is a blend of green tea, lemongrass, orange and lemon peel, bergamot oil and natural flavors. Isn’t it so pretty, too?! I love all the big chunky pieces.

As this tea steeps it looks and smells very vegetal. The tea leaves and other pieces expand, taking up a lot of room in the teapot! The smell is very fresh, of lemons a grass. As far as taste, for me, the most prominent flavor is the bergamot. Maybe because I’m used to tasting it in black tea? Or maybe because the orange peel and lemon peel act to accentuate the flavor? No mater, it tastes good – flavorful without being flowery. On second steep I found the lemongrass much more noticeable than in my first cup. So, that was fun!

This is a delicious green tea. It has a clean, crisp, and just slightly green/earthy taste. For me the bergamot, lemon, and orange notes rounded out the green tea and softened the sometimes harsh taste of typical green teas. It’s a pretty tea that opened up to reveal big full leaves! I love when the steeped tea looks almost like fresh-picked picked leaves! This is a good choice to keep in the cupboard as a solid stand-by solid green tea.

Review: Tiesta Tea Victorian Earl Grey

You all know how much I love earl grey tea! So, of course I was really excited to give this one a try. Overall a traditional earl grey blend of black tea and bergamot oil with the interesting addition of lavender, rose petals, marigolds and cornflowers.

The presentation of this tea is quite pretty, dark black tea with the light flower petals mixed through out. The aroma is also very nice with a decidedly floral scent. Finally, and more importantly, the taste was good too! Not quite the strong citrus burst typical of strong earl grey, but the bergamot still comes through enough. There is also a hint for flowers int he taste as well. The three flavors – the tea, bergamot, and flower petals – blend well together and are well-balanced.

This tea could easily become an everyday tea! It’s easy to drink, yet the taste remains interesting from start to finish.

Review: Stash Double Bergamot Earl Grey Black Tea

Here we have Earl Grey taken to the next level with Stash Double Bergamot Earl Grey Black Tea. The name alone had me really excited to try this one. I love early grey and thought, what could be better than more earl grey in one cup?! There are just some days where you could really use an extra boost. This tea is one place to get it. The double bergamot is pungent and strong, but in a good way, if you like bergamot of course. Though very strong, the oil doesn’t take over. The black tea is there and isn’t masked by the bergamot. For those of you saying “bergamot, what the heck IS bergamot”, let me just tell you about this wonderful little addition to black tea that creates earl grey. It’s actually the oil from the bergamot orange thats added, lending a zesty citrus flavor. And in the case of this tea, a little extra is added! Exciting, right? I know.

Stay away from this tea if you are not a bergamot fan. You will not like it. But for the rest of us, those with memberships to the bergamot fan club, this double is so tasty! While drinking this tea, I found it to be comforting in that the robustness of flavor was well matched to the strong caffeine that it provided. Like you are getting a kick of energy and you know it by how it tastes.

Double Bergamot = double yum! I’ve been on a serious Earl Grey kick for a while. Perhaps since Abby & I visited the Harney & Son’s in SOHO. It must have been that Earl Grey Ice Cream! And, if you’re a fan of Bergamot then you’ll be a fan of this tea. The tea is nice and strong making for a  good morning cuppa. The bergamot certainly isn’t overpowering, but it is stronger than regular Earl Grey. Like I said before, double yum! While this is too strong to be an evening tea it’s makes a great wake-up cup or an afternoon pick-me-up. The citrus notes in Earl Grey make it pair well with other fruit flavors. Like jam. Like jam on scones. Mmmmm…better go make another batch of those scones! Like Abby said, if you’re an Earl Grey tea lover then you’ll certainly think this is fabulous. Enjoy!
